EEW Magazine’s 12 Irrefutable Laws of Business Success
For Small Business Owners
By Dianna Hobbs

Law #1  Know your Base
When you know exactly who you’re aiming for you have a better idea of how to hit your target. Don’t ever begin any business model
without a clear understanding of your demographics. Identifying what is unique to your audience—their wants, needs, interests,
preferences, and goals, is the key to winning customers. In business, “One size does not fit all.” What attracts one group of people
repels another.

Law #2 Stay True to your Mission
If you don’t have a mission statement you need one; it helps you navigate your way through the maze of options you will be confronted
with. Think of your mission statement as your compass to help you stay on course. If something doesn’t fall in line with the purpose of
your business, filter it out and get back to what is important.

*If you’re unsure of how to create your own mission statement, one of my favorite thought leaders provides one on his website. The
resource can be found at:

Remember, once you have zoned in on what the purpose and goals of your business are you will undoubtedly be much better
equipped to create programs, products, and services that generate income for you.

Law #3 Build Quality Relationships
This is big, especially in the world of networking. You see, if you’re not careful, networking can become a lot like a “net” or a trap. You
get caught up with individuals who don’t add anything to you. Rather, they attempt to use you. Keep in mind, there is a difference
between “many connections” and “quality connections.” Having a small number of useful contacts is superior to having a large
number of useless contacts. Ask God to direct you
.

Law #4 Become Impervious to Outside Pressure
Never get in too big a hurry. That’s when you make mistakes. If ever you’re in the middle of negotiations and the other party tries to
force you to make a decision on the spot, step a way from it, pray about it, mull it over for a few days, then see how you feel. You can
make better choices with a clear mind and a level head.

Law #5 Be a Good Judge of Character
In business, you’ll be approached by many prospects: Potential clients, partners, and vendors. You must learn to be a guarded in
your interactions and do not open yourself up until you are convinced that an individual is trustworthy. Know how to read behavior and
never forget— everyone has a motive. It’s up to you to determine whether it’s good or bad. Thankfully, you don’t have to figure people
out on your own. God freely gives wisdom to all who ask Him. (See James 1:5)

Here’s a tip. Be leary of individuals who don’t make good on their word. If they make promises in the moment, but don’t follow through
on them, that’s a sign that they lack integrity. Don't become paranoid; this doesn't apply in all cases. After all, each of is fallible. We
make mistakes from time to time-- this is where wisdom and discernment comes in.

Law #6 Know when to Walk Away
Business relationships are like any other interpersonal relationships in your life. There are times when some ties will inevitably need
to be severed. Whether you’re dealing with vendors who are no longer providing exceptional service, partners who engage in
dishonest business practices,  or contacts that don’t value you or add value
to you… don’t be afraid to walk away. When you remain in
unproductive business relationships, your progress is hindered.
To help you end this year on a strong note, I have
compiled my very own list of The 12 Irrefutable
Laws of Business Success. If you implement
these you’ll be well on your way to growth and
