“I’m just glad I’m finished,” CeCe says of her latest album release, Thy
Kingdom Come, in a one-on-one interview with EEW's Founder and
Editor-In-Chief, Dianna Hobbs.  “It was a really hard project to get
finished.”

Hard?

Just glad to be finished?

Some might find that difficult to believe since CeCe Winans is best
known for a long string of successful solo albums--this being her 8th
consecutive musical project.

But we discovered in our conversation with CeCe that the process of
finding the right sound, the best songs, and a unified message, isn't
quite as easy as it may seem.
“Actually we had started out doing a hymns project, and I put some of these songs [from my current album] on the hymns
project, and I thought I was done with the project, and turned it in and they were like, no—you know, my distribution
company, and some people from my company were like, it’s too spread out. I was like what do you guys mean?! Because I
was supposed to have a project out last year in August I think, or July, so I had to go back to the drawing board.”

Though a minor inconvenience, going back to the drawing board was one of the best things that happened to CeCe. As she
fell on her face before God, He gave her word for this hour and a message He wanted her to share through this project.

“I was in prayer a lot, just [praying about] picking
the right songs," CeCe recalls. "And while I was in
prayer the Lord just put Kingdom in my spirit, just
Kingdom, Kingdom, Kingdom, and I was like okay
Lord what do you want this project to say. So we
started looking for more songs and started doing
some writing, and uh, so I’m really excited that I
believe that we really have what we’re supposed to
have [on the album].”

CeCe’s excitement is tempered by the realization
that the gift of music isn’t something to be taken
lightly. Those who know her well will readily tell you
that she’s a stickler about getting—not just any
message—but the right message out to the people of
God. The platform isn’t just for money and fame.

For CeCe it’s all about ministry. That's what
attracted EEW to her story... her genuine passion
for God, and her authentic heart for ministry.

But everyone doesn't have it. Some folks are just in
it for the money and fame.

But not CeCe Winans.
She says in a serious tone,  “We must understand the power we
possess, not just for our lives, but for those souls that are
depending on us being [representatives of ] the Kingdom of
God. Souls are depending on you to be in your place. When we
turn on the news and we hear about the shootings on the college
campuses, when I hear it, I can’t help but feel like, okay Lord,
am I praying and interceding for the lost like I should? Because
we, as the Body of Christ, we’re the Kingdom of God here on the
earth and we pray His will into the earth.”
