BUMP UP YOUR FRUIT INTAKE
Every woman needs fruit in her diet to stay healthy.
Unfortunately, many women prefer juices with high
fructose corn syrup(sugar), diet soda, and unhealthy
snacks with lots of empty calories and no health
benefits. Here's a healthy tip for you: Make sure you
keep your refrigerator stocked with fruit.
And when on the go, you can put a healthy treat to snack
on in a little Ziplock baggie, instead of binging on junk!

28 year old Denise Pritchard, from the outside, has
everything in the world going for her. She's active in ministry,
advancing in her career as an IT assistant and just recently bought
her first home-- a small but quaint 2 bedroom bungalow to match
her navy blue, luxury BMW (A late graduation present from her
grandparents).
But instead of counting her blessings, Denise is stuck counting
calories and obsessing over dropping an additional 30 pounds to
achieve her ideal body weight of 140. With a smile that would light
up any room, Denise invites EEW into her home and sits down to
chat briefly about her struggle with fitness. It quickly becomes
evident that she's uncomfortable with her weight, as she tugs at her
blouse and covers her mid-section by crossing her arms over her
stomach. Rather than being excited and enjoying the young, single,
saved and successful life, this young woman with so much
promise is depressed and spends most of her time moping about
the numbers on the scale.
Denise's story is not atypical. Our society is obsessed with body
image and it seems that nearly everyone is crazed over losing fat,
toning, and streamlining their physique. But what ever happened to
focusing more on health than vanity?

part of doing that is adopting an overall healthier lifestyle, by
changing a few things:
Get Up and Get Moving. Most of us nowadays lead sedentary
lifestyles, but it's important to engage in some level of cardio
activity. Light dumbbells are great too!
Eating Healthy doesn't Mean Starving. A 1500 calorie regimen of
5-6 small meals per day is perfect. Never ever skip breakfast, so
your body's metabolism is properly regulated, which is key to more
effective weight loss.
Get an Accountability Partner. It's crucial to have a friend or family
member to help you stay on track in making the health choices that
will last a lifetime.
Embrace Where You Are as You Work Toward Where You Want
to Be. Health and fitness is a lifestyle to be lived, not a fad to
participate in. So, be sure that your mind is conditioned for the long
haul. Healthier habits will lead to a longer, more productive life, not
a temporary fix connected to unrealistic goals. So, here's to
healthier living!
I recently read an article from BlackDoctor.org that suggesting that,
linking exercise to eating habits can set you up for failure.
According to the site, "It’s time to exercise in the name of acquiring
superior fitness and mobility, plus a lowered risk of disease. Let fat
loss take a backseat."
Could it be that, if we change the way we think about fitness, we
could achieve weight loss goals as a natural part of the process?
Denise admits, "I eat a lot of sweets... a lot," she laughs. "And I
work so much that it's hard to squeeze in time for exercise." Most
women like Denise want to lose weight, but don't realize that a huge
If you can't get shedding pounds off the brain, there
may be a few foods you need to shed from your diet
first before getting the results you want.
Make Small Changes Like These:
- Eat your favorite dessert once a month, not once a week.
- Drive by the drive-thru. Fast food is a no no.
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day, everyday!
- Try to eat a healthy salad daily.
