South Korean Christians Protest Lady Gaga,
Government BANS Kids From Pornographic Tour
By Sherita Wilkes, EEW Magazine Contributing Writer
There are people stomping and taking a stand for Jesus Christ over in Seoul, South Korea—the most
devoutly Christian country in Asia, trumped only by the Philippines. These warriors for Christ just
so happened to be on hand to protest the“Born This Way Ball” world tour that kicked off Friday,
April 27. It features pop superstar Lady GaGa, a musical artist they strongly believe is corrupting the
youth of today.
According to the Christian Post, Gaga “looked to provoke the Christian groups in the country that
had been protesting against her, by including simulated group sex scenes, and also at another stage, a
lesbian sex scene.”
CP also reports that the Korean Association of Church Communication is on a mission to "stop young
people from being infected with homosexuality and pornography” that Gaga is promoting through
her tour.
The concert of the outspoken gay rights advocate that U.S. president Barack Obama once called the
“leader” of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community was banned by the South
Korean government for anyone under 18 years of age.
When artists like GaGa are mass-marketed and their products mass-produced, it becomes quite hard
to insulate the youth from their poisonous impact. Gaga’s song “Born This Way” is featured in the
animated film Alvin and the Chipmunks, which gives the false impression that the diabolical artist is
safe for children.
While she openly admits to drug use and glorifies sexual deviancy, many parents are lulled to sleep
because of the marketing genius that has catapulted Gaga to extreme levels of fame. Her
outspokenness on behalf of bullied gay teens has only increased her fame and grown her fanbase.
"Some people can accept this as another culture but its impact is huge beyond art and debases
religions. Even adults can't see her performance which is too homosexual and pornographic," Yoon
Jung-hoon, a reverend who organized the "Civilians Network against the Lady Gaga Concert" told the
Chicago Tribune.
Christians must never be duped or deceived by the allure of stardom and appeal of entertainment.
The underlying messages and images are unhealthy for youth and adults alike.
