The singer had reportedly abruptly cancelled weekend engagements to be at her grandmother’s side
after learning the Johnson family matriarch could go home to be with the Lord at any moment.
A message was posted on the singer’s Facebook page via LookUpRadio.com on Sunday officially
announcing her grandmother’s death and requesting prayers for the Johnson family.
"When a loved one dies, every day is difficult," said Terese Vorsheck, Director of Highmark Caring
Place, a Center for Grieving families, with a particular focus on children and adolescents. "The
holidays, and the anticipation of the holidays, can intensify feelings of grief. After a family member
dies, holidays are never the same.”
Even though the loss will be felt forever, we know God is able to give peace and comfort in a way that
no one else can. For those who love God, we have a promise found in Matthew 5:4 NIV, which says,
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Our prayers and love go out to the Johnson family at this time, and to all the families who are
grieving the loss of loved ones.
