THE EXCLUSIVE STORY YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Lisa McClendon Raw & Uncut

After years of living for the approval of others, for the first time in her life, Lisa McClendon—
the self-proclaimed “Boss Lady” is breaking her silence about her secret struggles, and
doing things her way for a change.

In her upclose and personal interview with Dianna Hobbs, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of
EEW Magazine, Lisa unmasks her hidden pain and reveals exclusive details about her
personal heartbreak, poor self-image, and the ongoing struggle to make power plays in a
tough, often treacherous music industry game that has ravaged many young, hopeful artists.

Lisa McClendon’s first major break came through Integrity Gospel, the music label that's
home to many of the industry's heaviest hitters.  But now, after her split from Integrity, the
Boss Lady is going it alone with a new smash album release—Reality—scheduled to drop
on her very own Indie Label, DG Music, in April of this year.

Lisa’s excitement about the upcoming album is palpable, yet the road to her newfound place
of freedom and new beginnings has been wrought with pain, heartbreak, and uncertainty at
times.
Though publicly wearing a smile, for the past several years, just beneath the
surface, was a wantonness in Lisa’s soul— a silent longing for serenity and
real happiness. A private storm was brewing--one that she's been hiding all
this time... until now.

Where the Drama Started
To best understand the emotional wounds that have afflicted Lisa throughout
her life, you must travel back to her childhood, where the first traces of
inadequacy and self-loathing came to light. According to Lisa, she struggled
with low self-esteem from the time her baby sister, Amanda, was born.

“So you have this light, bright-skinned child,” explains Lisa, “with this extremely
curly hair, very pretty, and she was getting all the attention; I have short, nappy
hair…”

Lisa didn’t like herself, and no one knew the struggle she was going through at
the time—after all, she was but a small child, hardly remove from her toddler
stages.

“I believe with all my heart that it started right there [with my baby sister] but because no one knew what was going on inside of me, no
one really reaffirmed who I was.”

Desperate for attention, Lisa began creating a world full of lies and deceit so that someone—anyone would love her and accept her.  “I
was a wonderful liar,” Lisa laughs. “I built a fantasy world around myself. The world I wanted, the life I wanted, I just began to make it up
as a child for attention.”

But Lisa’s fantasy world wasn’t just a figment of her childhood imagination. On the contrary, she carried this pseudo-world into adulthood,
which led to very serious issues with her identity. “It just grew bigger and bigger,” Lisa explains. “Until one day, I realized that I just didn’t
really know who I was. In early adulthood I realized I had lied so much that, I didn’t know what I liked or who I was… just because of
having very low self-esteem.”

As you might imagine, high school was a nightmare for Lisa. She tells EEW Magazine, “When you have low self-esteem, you pretty much
lower your standards and will start accepting anything just for attention.” Her early troubled love life began in her pre-teen years. “I started
dating this guy in the seventh grade— well at least I thought I was dating him. I think he thought something else. And we had a weird,
strange, on and off relationship from seventh grade until the time I went to college.”
