By the age of 20, Valorie had already earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs with a Minor in Sociology. Then, at age 21,
she went on to gain her Master’s Degree in Journalism from Florida A & M in one year—surpassing all her peers.
For Valorie, her fear of somehow not being smart enough or good enough caused her to push herself to achieve more in less time.
Consequently, she constantly overdid it, severely reducing her quality of life. “It was fear that drove me to such a high level of busyness.
It was the fear that I wasn’t smart enough… it was ridiculous, but it was my fear.”
Unfortunately, there is an epidemic where many individuals become so bogged down with trying to make things happen in their lives
that they end up out of balance. “We have this illusion that we are in control of things that we are not in control of. The Lord will bring the
right opportunities to you. You don’t have to be frazzled trying to make things happen. You have to have faith. It’s up to you to make a
decision about whether you’re going to be a living embodiment of faith or fear.”
Valorie made her choice. She chose faith. Now, she has relinquished control and allowed God to bring the right opportunities to her, in
His own timing. As a result of this paradigm shift, Valorie is truly living in alignment with God’s will. “There’s nothing better and nothing
more fulfilling than doing what you were called to do,” Valorie says.
