Bishop T.D. Jakes, 56, electrified the Aussies on Tuesday, July 2 as a keynote speaker at the Hillsong
Conference.

Roars from thousands of enthusiastic Believers rang out at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia, as
they gathered to receive a word from the Lord to invigorate their souls, and send them back to their local
churches on fire for Christ.

Jakes’ sermon, “The Memoirs of a Blind Man,” taken from Mark 10:50, focused on the blind beggar,
Bartimaeus, who received his sight after frantically and disruptively calling out  the name of Jesus.
Although those around the afflicted man on the fringes of society rebuked him and told him to be quiet,
Bartimaeus continued to cry out, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Comparing himself to the beggar, the Dallas mega pastor said of Jesus, “He could have went to all those
healthy people, those holy people, those special and important people, those gifted and strong people, but
He stopped and stood still to look at a guy like me. To God be the glory!”

Ministering To The Aussies: T.D. Jakes Preaches at
Hillsong Conference In Sydney
During the fiery message, Jakes, who is gearing up for MegaFest in August, used the Scriptural analogy of
coming out of one’s coat, as the shedding of the old, in order to step into the new. “I want everybody in here
that’s coming out of your coat, to give God a praise right now!” he admonished.

Later, Jakes, who has a special knack for painted metaphorical pictures, illustrated the supernatural
process Blind Bartimaeus underwent.  “With his cup behind him, and his coat on the floor, he walks from the
familiar to the unfamiliar; from the terrestrial to the celestial; from the earthly to the divine.”

Bringing the biblical application full circle, applying it to everyday people, Jakes said, “I’m telling you right
where you are, if you want a move of God in this place, you’ve gotta come out of the earthly stuff and come
into the divine presence of God.”

The only speaker of color in the lineup, Jakes’ ministry has transcended racial and cultural barriers, and is
reaching souls around the world.
