After 12 Years of Marriage, the Storybook Wedding Ends in Divorce

The two promised to remain together until they
were parted by death.
But somewhere along the way, the couple ran into
problems they didn’t know how to resolve. And
finally, after shooting down divorce rumors for a
while, on Sunday, December 18, 2011, Deion
Sanders released an official public statement to
TMZ confirming that the rumblings surrounding a
possible split were, in fact, true.
"Pilar and I have decided to end our marriage and
move on to the next phase of our individual lives
with mutual respect. We are friends and our top
priority has and will continue to be the well-being
of our children. We arrived at this decision
prayerfully and carefully in order to be able to
pursue what is in both of our best personal
interests."
The Sanders’ divorce announcements rounds out
the trio of high profile holiday divorce
statements. Atlanta megapastor, Eddie Long and
wife Vanessa, are splitting up, as well as Laker’s
front man, Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa.
