today, as a 35-year-old woman, and more importantly a servant of Jesus Christ, they touch
me deeply. He was my age when he made that definitive statement revealing his singleness of
purpose. But it wasn’t just rhetoric. King lived and died for his convictions.

Today I am inspired.

I am motivated to continue my work in media, but not for the same reasons my mainstream
contemporaries pursue similar courses.

My mission remains different, yet clear.

I am a minister of the gospel first. Everything else I do creates inroads for me to fulfill my
primary mission more effectively.

I am here to win lost souls to Christ for the advancement of the Kingdom of God on earth and
the same is true of everyone reading this note from me today.

Whatever line of work you pursue, it does not define you.

You and I are defined by Ephesians 2:10 NIV that says, “For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Editor's Note
I
“I am a minister of the gospel, not a
political leader.”

Those are the words Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. spoke at age 35 after
the Georgia-born minister became the
youngest to win the Nobel Peace Prize
in 1964.

The honor was bestowed upon him
for his nonviolent resistance to racial
prejudice in America, but his main
focus was living out the gospel of
Jesus Christ through the fight for
social justice.

When I reflect on Dr. King’s words
