As that reality sunk in, my sobs turned into wails—uncontrollable and loud.If
you’d been in the room, you would have recognized the unmistakable sound
of grief that accompanies death. In this case I was mourning the death of my
marriage.”
Though unpleasant and tough to handle, through the power of God’s word,
He helped Valorie pull herself up out of that horrible pit of emotional despair
so many women find themselves in. Whether their grief is tied to the loss of a
job, relationship, home, loved one, or something else close to their hearts,
bouncing back from a setback can be unbelievably difficult.
That’s why EEW Magazine has chosen to feature Valorie Burton in our series
themed, “The Year of the Everyday Woman: Ordinary Women Doing
Extraordinary Things.”
Everyday women need to see and understand that, as we work to fulfill our
divine purpose, life does not always come gift-wrapped and tied with a big
pretty red bow. Stuff happens. We endure hardships, setbacks, loss, and
personal struggles. Despite all that, we cannot stop living. Instead, we must
do what we have to do in order to bounce back, which is exactly what the
powerful strategies in Valorie’s new book, Where Will You Go from Here?
help readers do. (Win a FREE Copy!)
When I asked Valorie how she developed such practical, useful, and
effective bounce-back principles, she said, “When going through my own
personal challenges, these are the very principles that empowered me to
bounce back. They are based on biblical principles, research from the field
of positive psychology and lessons learned from my experiences and those
of real people whose amazing, inspiring stories I reveal in the book.”
Her openness and transparency is refreshing, and demonstrates to others
that she walks her talk. “People want to know how to pull themselves out of a
ditch, but they also want to know the person sharing advice can relate. They
want to know that I can understand because I've been there, too, and
managed to climb my way out and land on my feet better and stronger than
ever."
