One thing I’ve learned about myself lately is that
when my confidence is off track, I become
fearful. When I am fearful, I am less likely to
accomplish the task before me. When I fail to
accomplish a goal, it puts a damper on my self-
esteem. When my self-esteem is weakened, I
begin to doubt and question my potential. When I
question my potential, I lose sight of fulfilling
God’s purpose for my life. Do you see what’s
happening? It’s a downward spiral that leads to
fear and causes a stumbling block to form along
the path to purpose. Just what the enemy wants.
The last thing Satan desires is for us to be confident in who we are and what we can do through
Christ, because when we are courageous in Christ, he knows that his attempts to steal, kill, and
destroy will come to naught.
I am thankful that God loves me enough to remind me that when I put total trust in Him, it matters
not what I think I may lack, or what others think I’m not qualified for. In Him, you and I can have
complete confidence in the fact that we have the ability to do all that He has called and predestined
us to accomplish.
As my confidence has been refreshed, I believe God wants to do the same for you. For whatever
reason you’ve lost faith in who you are in Christ Jesus, God wants to restore your confidence
today. He wants you to realize that because you are a child of the King, there are certain rights you
possess. You have the right to be confident and no one can take that away from you.
Sisters, God wants you to embrace the confident woman He designed you to be. Not necessarily
confident in your looks or your own abilities (Though that is great!) but more so in the
immeasurable abilities you possess through Christ. So what you’re not college educated. So what
no one in your family has ever done what you’re trying to do. So what someone else can do a better
job than you. That does not matter to God. If He called you to it, He will supply you with all you
need to see it through to completion.
Whatever assignment God has placed before you, tackle it with certainty, knowing that you have
been equipped with all you need to successfully carry it out. Remember, in Christ you have the
strength and confidence to do ALL things great and small!
Over the past few weeks, the Lord has been dealing with me about confidence. As someone who
completely lacked any form of self-esteem for many years, my newly found confidence in who I
am through Christ can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. To be quite honest, some days my level
of certainty is at an all-time high and I believe I can conquer the world; however, there are times
when I’m simply unsure. Though I would love to blame my fluctuating confidence on hormones,
it would be completely dishonest of me to allow my current pregnancy to take the fall for this one.
Through prayer and a little soul-searching, I discovered that my confidence becomes shaky when
I focus on what I see as my inadequacies. When God places an assignment before me, I sometimes
feel that there is someone more educated; someone more experienced; and someone better
qualified than me. Ever felt that way? And truthfully, there will always be someone better suited
for the job; however, the difference between them and you is that they weren’t chosen…you were.
And God qualifies those He calls. (See Romans 8:30)
I was reminded that it is not in my flesh that I find true confidence, but it is in the Greater One that
lives within me that my certainty lies. When we focus on our flesh, our spiritual confidence is
weakened, because we will always be able to find reasons why we can’t do something. But if we
keep our minds stayed on who we are and the confidence we possess in Christ, we will
wholeheartedly believe, and operate according to Philippians 4:13 –“I can do all things through
Christ that gives me strength.”
