Deana Murphy: Designing Your Best Life
I will take a side-bar right here and share with you how the enemy works. Not that he is so
important and is worthy of recognition, but in any battle you had must tudy the enemy so you can
recognize him when he comes. One thing I have learned about designing my life on God’s promises
is the devil will do all he can to side-swipe you to distract you from your expected end. We can
learn this from Peter. The Bible calls satan the prince of the air. (See Ephesians 2:2). Matthew
14:29 tells us that when Jesus said to Peter, “Come,” Peter’s faith in that one word compelled him
to step out on the water to meet Jesus. But he became distracted by the strong wind and waves and
the enemy used that to sway his faith.

Here’s my contemporary example of how the enemy works. On the day before my scheduled
appointment to repeat the mammogram and have the ultra sound, I received a letter from the
interpreting provider stating, "There is a finding that requires further additional imaging studies
(mammogram and ultra sound) for a complete evaluation. Most such finds are not cancer." Of
course a sudden moment of uneasiness gripped me. But after reading the letter, a thought occurred
to me. This was just another tactic of the devil to infuse fear in me by using the "C" word. But I
refused to fear.

The following day I underwent an excruciatingly painful mammogram before the ultra sound.
Findings: There was nothing there but some fat tissue! Glory to God!

Why do I share my testimony?

First: I give God the glory irrespective of whether there was ever anything in that area of my body
other than tissue.
Lesson learned: I believed what God said.

Second:
The devil could not shake me to be fearful. I didn't tell anyone. I didn't worry about it
either, a formidable challenge to say the least. But I had to examine things from a perspective that
says, I already have the victory so there really isn’t anything to talk about except the victory itself.
For this reason Paul said, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God
what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Phil. 4:6 NLT.  One of the worse things you can
do as a Believer is to agree with the devil. You do this by talking about your circumstances instead
of saying what God has already said about the situation.
Lesson learned: Say only what God
has said.

Third:
I immediately put my faith into action even before I received a bad report. I was tilling the
ground. My attitude and my day to day activities were carefully guarded. The prayer of faith,
based on God’s promises, is powerful and it does change things, but the Bible also says add to your
faith. (See 2 Peter 1:4-10).
Lesson learned: Keep watch and pray so that you will not
give in to temptation.

Fourth:
I sowed my prayer time by praying for the healing of someone else. This turned the focus
on someone else instead of me.
Lesson learned: A seed produces after its own kind.

Any chaos or disorder that interferes with your life is an infringement. You have been granted the
right-of-way to live an abundant life of happiness, peace, health and fulfillment.  So remain firm in
faith and resist fear, even in times of uncertainty.

Say this with me: I am willing to continually dwell on, confess, believe, and live by God’s promises!

In May I had my annual mammogram (I
loathe them). I had been waiting over a
month for the radiologist to read my film and
make the comparison with last year's. I never
received the usual follow-up letter. Several
weeks passed before my gynecologist called
to say that she received my report and
wanted me to have another mammogram and
an ultra sound due to some abnormalities. I
immediately made the appointment, but
didn't say a word to anyone including my
husband.

Now understand, no one or any report had
said there was anything seriously wrong with
me, but I was painting and wallpapering my
heart with faith through prayer and praise.

Soon thereafter, I began getting symptoms in
my breast. They were very painful and
uncomfortable.
